Master Key Systems

Master Key Systems

Halls of Cambridge possesses a wealth of experience of implementing high security secure master key systems into commercial premises. The benefit of a masterkey system is that one key can open every lock in the system, whilst others will have limited access.

Halls of Cambridge have supplied and fitted Master key systems for Schools, Hospital’s, Colleges, University’s, Hotels, and Offices, Apartment blocks, Factories and even private homes.

There are three different kinds of Master Key Systems, each with a different level of security:

  • Open Section Master Keys – these look like normal keys and can be cut anywhere
  • Protected Section Master Keys – new keys can be cut where the originals were purchased, with documentation
  • Patented Section Master Keys – top of the range security, new keys require specialist machinery to produce and legal documentation

At Halls, we are equipped to supply and fit a variety of Master Key Systems, but we also offer a free survey of your existing system, helping you to expand your present system if required or replace it if necessary. Furthermore, we can invariably obtain spare keys for existing systems, including the following:

  • Mul-T-Lock Master Key Systems
  • Chubb (Medeco) M3 Master Key Systems
  • Kaba pExtra Patented Cylinder
  • Squire Stronghold Protected Section
  • ABUS-Pfaffenhain
  • Assa Abloy
  • Union

Keys for systems such as those detailed above can, more often than not, be supplied while you wait or on a same-day basis, providing that proof of proper authority can be displayed, where applicable.

Many people choose to buy master key systems from architectural ironmongers or even online. While the low cost of these systems can be attractive, customers find the aftercare to be poor. Keys are often required in a hurry and when systems are not bought from locksmiths they can take weeks to be cut and delivered.

The benefit of having a master key system with a local locksmith such as Halls is that we carry blanks for all the systems we sell and keys can be cut while you wait. Also locks that are in need of repair can be dealt with by our staff on site, and in many cases can be ready the next day. We can also build new locks for your system as required.

If you are seeking a new Master Key System, require an expansion of your existing system or simply require new keys, contact Halls of Cambridge for a speedy, efficient and cost-effective level of service – we pride ourselves on exceeding the expectations of our customers.

CCTV Systems Are Better At Deterring Crime Than Burglar Alarms

Rural homes should get CCTV systems to prevent crime, says Inspector Chief inspector James Sutherland believes CCTV systems are better at deterring crime than burglar alarms. (Original article published by the Cambridge Evening News - 27 February 2017) Homes in rural areas should have CCTV systems to prevent crime, according to a chief inspector for South Cambridgeshire Constabulary. Chief inspector James Sutherland argues that CCTV systems are better than burglar alarms. At a South Cambridgeshire Police panel meeting in Orchard Park, Cambridge, on Wednesday, CI Sutherland said: "One of the reasons why solving crime in rural areas is much harder than cities is the total absence of CCTV. "You go into Cambridge city and there is really good, authority owned CCTV and there has been for a long time.” "But there is none in South Cambridgeshire. If people can get CCTV then I would wholeheartedly recommend it.” "It's a great deterrent for burglars and a better deterrent than a burglar alarm." He added that CCTV should be accompanied by a "chain of security", rather than people making isolated purchases. "The overarching point I make about security is that home security only works when you chain things together. "But a burglar alarm, or CCTV system, with a good physical system, such as good locks and lighting, has an accumulative effect on crime prevention. "If it were me, I'd start with the good window locks and door locks, security lighting, timer switches and then once that's done, consider burglar alarms and CCTV systems and more advanced security."
